Top Chess Engine Challenge (TCEC)

Hi Everyone,
Just thought I'd share with you that the Top Chess Engine Challenge (TCEC) season 9 is underway! It's a competition of your favorite engines including Komodo, Houdini, and some random ones you've never heard of (Stockfish will be in the other bracket when stage 1A completes). It's also a great way to socialize with the chess programming community.
I have it running on my TV thru my xBox while I host wild parties (haha jk - wild parties part).
I'm a Stockfish fan btw.

Get yer popcorn and enjoy!
TCEC are the unofficial computer chess world championships and I watch the games quite frequently (not always live though).

Anyway I am a bit disappointed about this season. I hoped for the new Shredder version to participate. And maybe HIARCS. Would have been interesting.

But still a very nice lineup and from up to stage two, the new Houdini version (v5dev) will play. At least this is what they said. I am curious about its strength and whether it can make it to the superfinal.
Do these engines uses opening books and endgame tablebases on their games from this tournament? Just curious, because an engine alone isn't quite good per se.
#3:

"Stage 1 will use a depth-limited opening book of 2 moves. Stage 2 and Stage 3 will use an opening book of 8 moves. The Superfinal will use a variable opening book"

"For Season 9 all stages 6-men Nalimov, Syzygy, and Gaviota tablebases are available"

so all engines supporting one of these tablebases will use them
yah i've watched a bit of previous editions and will watch some of this one too, pretty interesting.
thanks for sharing :o
I will be rooting for free, Stockfish . Want to see the fight for the super final, Houdini 5. Komodo 9.42, very strong, he can once again become a champion. I think we will see a great game of chess, where 100 parties, Grand final, no more than 10 parties will be effective, and the rest draw.
I would really like to see Gull 3 get to the final :-)
I think last season ended up 3rd in front of Houdini.
I am looking for the games PGN I know clicking c8 works, but I want the pgn from previous games, how should I do it?
#8 click on "Archive", choose Season and stage in the dropdown list to the left. The old seasons have a DL-Button.

To download the season 9 games, choose the stage, a game and click on D8 of the chess board. Now copy the text and save it as a .pgn file.
