You are precisely "that lichess user"

It would help if you took the time to check your facts before you post.

Technically you are incorrect.

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chess_Olympiad

"The English term is still often used popularly to indicate the games themselves, a usage that is uncommon in ancient Greek (as an Olympiad is most often the time period between and including sets of games).[17] It is also used to indicate international competitions other than physical sports. This includes international science olympiads, such as the International Geography Olympiad, International Mathematical Olympiad and the International Linguistics Olympiad and their associated national qualifying tests (e.g., the United States of America Mathematical Olympiad or the United Kingdom Linguistics Olympiad), and also events in mind-sports, such as the Science Olympiad, Mindsport Olympiad, Chess Olympiad, International History Olympiad and Computer Olympiad. In these cases Olympiad is used to indicate a regular event of international competition for top achieving participants; it does not necessarily indicate a four-year period."

You can play in the WORLD Amateur Team Championship next February 2022 ... Just show up as many teams are formed on the site in Parsippany NJ Usually Presidents Day weekend ... Many GMs & IMs show up also . There are over 1000 players expected >>> As other tournaments there is the World Open & US Open that are OPEN to all ... Other stuff like Chess Olyimpiads you need to be Invited & other CLOSED tournaments you would need to Qualify for be Invited for >>> Like the US Closed Championship
Become a member of a chessclub that belongs to a chessfederation from for example Navarra, Malta, Lichtenstein etc. Then win some national tournaments and then voila! :-)
You live here in the USA I see so you will need to compete in some Local Tournaments or National events . United States Chess Federation you can look up Events to compete in under Tournament Life . Go to USCF become a member & join Tournaments to get your Rating

I'm pretty sure it is the Olympiad......
@ThunderClap I have a USCF rating, and I'm starting to get back into OTB chess. I'm not big on traveling so I've never played in a National event. But I'm trying to play local.
