nimzo larsen attack

..d5-d4 in general is the way to go for black. If he achieves that, he usually has solved all his problems. White must throw an eye on this pawn push. If any of his setups allow d5-d4, it is probably not good. The Carlsen game is different, because here blacks pawns were doubled and white had very active pieces.
@ujcn

But 5.Be2 is too passive. Better is 5.c4 += which prevents the ..c5, ..d4 idea. Center control is important in all openings.

(see? you was informed in your alerts ;-) )
An example is Radjabov - Aronian (move transposition: 1.Nf3 d5 2.b3 Nf6 3.Bb2 g6 4.e3 Bg7 5.c4 c6):

Here white probably had forgotten the theory and played 13.Nb5?! after which black was slightly better: 13...Ne4!. If now 14.Bd3 then 14...a6 and the white knight has no good square to go (15.Bxe4 axb5 and the Ba3 is attacked).

White should play 13.Rb1! b6, and then 14.Nb5, because, if then 14...Ne4?! 15.Bd3 a6? white has 16.Bxe4 +- That is possible because 13...b6 weakened the square c6.

But if black does not play ..b6 he has problems developing his bishop and therefore white is better.
