Banned vs not banned rated game

And why was this challenge in a lobby of not banned players (I actually was about to accept it xD)
They can play via challenges but no ratings are lost/given
Did you see the challenge and was the player already banned at that time? (from the game history there are no clear hints at when the ban exactly happened)

Yes, I saw it in the lobby and I was about to accept it

It wasn't a personal challenge, it was an open challenge in the lobby. That's what confused me
Their history is interesting. As soon as the account was created, they gained some followers, who you can assume knew who it was. And they joined some very small groups including one named for them which would further narrow it down. Taking the name into account, which is mostly the same as their normal account, you can have 99% certainty who was running that account. And given that their normal account is rated in the low 1000s, you can be sure that they were using a computer for most or all of their moves. Hopefully the fact that they got caught within a few hours will be enough to convince them to not start cheating with their normal account.
As someone who has been observing/studying the lichess underworld for quite some time, I can share the following observations with you:

i.) Players in the underworld can play "rated" games among themselves, OR with unmarred accounts. Their ratings do not change in either case, and nor do the ratings of any normal accounts playing with a person in the underworld (see my account).

ii.) The underworld has a very active pool of players and it can be quite fascinating to observe their games and behaviours. (I have even see patrons of lichess in the underworld!)

iii.) Many players in the underworld are unaware* of being in the underworld since when they navigate to their own profile, they DO NOT see the red banner indicating the account has violated the terms of service. (How the underworld players are not recognizing that all of their opponents are flagged as having violated TOS is another thing - since they can indeed see this on their opponents' profiles.)
*so is the claim

Best wishes to all.
