May the 4th be with you !

Sure,Cinco de mayo
The Mexican celebration of mayonnaise

Just joking, don't get mad at this old gringo.

It does represent the victory of Mexican forces against the French under Napoleon III at the battle of Pueblo in 1862 . Oddly more celebrated in the US rather than Mexico. Mexican independence day is September 16th.

Viva Mexico!!!
The Star Wars original trilogy was really fun.

Some of the animated stuff is really good. Star Wars: Rebels and Season 7 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars are great.

That being said, Star Wars is tampered goods. The franchise has been handed to people who shouldn't have been granted any amount of power over it. Mark Hamill told you as much. The sequel trilogy is, fundamentally, a Mary Sue story, starring Daisy Ridley as "Rey."

I only saw 2 episodes of Star Wars from the 1980s... It's pretty good IMO, considering it was 2023 when I saw it

I want to see a Star Wars, produced by Kathleen Kennedy and written by Leslye Headland, in which a character says "no. I am your mother!"
May the fourth 2022 was a pretty nasty day for me as I was busy having a heart attack and was getting four stents snaked up my arm into my heart!

That said, what a fantastic movie series episodes 4, 5, 6 were, 1, 2, 3 not so much, and 7, 8, 9 were hot steaming garbage that ruined the final trilogy, and the franchise really.
I'm not impressed by the Jedi order. I got the impression that they should be heroes but they make a lot of stupid decisions.

Well, not a major issue, it's only entertainment.

1, 2, and 3 were scene-setting movies. We are to observe with nostalgia the good times of the Old Republic while noting its corruption and rot and cringing at Yoda's dubious decision to commit the Jedi Order to a war that was in fact a false flag operation. The movies are there to fill in gaps in the story.

7, 8, 9, on the other hand, are commodities rushed to market in a great hurry by directors who knew what "fan service" was but who did not know how to or care enough to tell interesting Star Wars stories.

I agree, Rey had huge potential, yet they just made her a mix between Princess Leia and Luke. I think she should have crossed over to the other side like Anakin, and Kylo Ren returned to the light side of the force in 9.

Rey lacked depth, everything happened too quickly and the character is difficult to understand.

the unrealistic finale with the thousands of star destroyers against a few X wings is one of the most beautiful failures in the history of modern cinema. they could have taken nihilism further, like in Rogue One.

it destroyed the Saga
