There's only two kinds of people in America right now

America is a "republic" and a "representative democracy." Both. Don't believe me or rely on my statement. Just research it for yourself using credible sources.

It baffles me each time I see this turn into a time-wasting debate.

I'm not sure anyone's arguing with you right now but in the personal preference category I'll mark you down as pro-democracy.
Yes I have a soft spot for democracy. A trait that happily prolongs marriage.
Incidentally, @spidersneedlovetoo, many spiders DO need love too! Thank you spiders, for all you do. I apologize for those members of my species who terminate every spider they encounter, reflexively, without bothering to learn which spiders do not warrant termination.
Regardless of political affiliation there are only 3 binary questions to ask to color the issues in a theoretical democracy.

Do you want to add red paint to the issue?
Do you want to add green paint to the issue?
Do you want to add blue paint to the issue?

Now, given these 8 visible colors, only 1 of them will be actually realized, hence politics!
I wish america was more democratic than it is now. the senate is very corrupt, and i hate this two party system, and the populism voting method and elector college is just utter trash
Elections are too obviously rigged in USA for this country to qualify as a democracy anyways.
Jon Meacham says it out loud: "Folks like us still speak as if there's a conventional reality, as if gravity works, as if stars are still in alignment. And they are really not. [...]
The question is: Are you for the constitution or are you against it?"
